Film I Want To See: Orgasm Inc.

by Violet Blue on July 16, 2010

Posted on my Facebook Page by reader D.D., Orgasm Inc. [trailer above] is a film I really want to see. It has familiar faces in it such as Dr. Stuart Meloy (a topic of a few of my talks and a subject in my future sex Chronicle column) and friend Dr. Carol Queen. Orgasm Inc. looks to be a really interesting film on the science and study of female orgasm, with lots of exciting sex science and a closer look at the gadgets used to study female sexuality. If I get a chance to see it, I’ll review it here for sure. Anyone catch this when it was in NYC a few months ago? Viviane told me they do screening updates on their Twitter account as well.

I caught it at Brown University a few months ago when it was screened there. We brought in the director, Liz Canner, to show the documentary and speak (she graduated from Brown in ’91) a bit about it. The film basically acts as an expose of the bullshit pharmaceutical companies pull to make money off people’s insecurities and how many of the drugs don’t actually provide more benefits than, say, placebos. It’s one of those docs that leaves you wanting to do something about the issue (or at least that was my experience). Also? Totally slams the Berman sisters for being complicit in all this nonsense.
