- Warning for survivors of sexual trauma and abuse: There were more than 1,000 newly recorded cases of female genital mutilation (FGM) in England between April and June, NHS data reveals. They show nine cases where girls were under 18 when first seen. FGM is illegal across the UK and it is illegal to take someone abroad for this purpose.

- A teenage North Carolina couple has been charged with making and distributing child pornography. Their alleged crime: snapping and sending nude photos — of themselves. “Pretty much everything about this case is appalling,” Mary Anne Franks, a law professor at the University of Miami, told The Washington Post in an e-mail.
