I have seen the local Fox affiliate ruin peoples’ names before, as a Mass. resident. Few years back, a gentleman I knew had a number of crazy allegations leveled against him. He was a youth group leader at the church I was attending, and a coach of a softball (I think) team. He was “caught” filming the a group of the kids on the team in a hotel pool. What they neglected to mention is that that footage, as well as footage from the rest of the teams’ season together–games, practices, etc–would later be cut into a montage that he’d show to the parents at the end of the season as a sort of video scrapbook. He did this at the church countless times. Dude lost his coaching gig, and spot in the youth group because of the report; nothing ever came of it.
I.e., Fox local is about as scrupulous as Fox News, but they don’t have big names to make stuff up about.
