  • Half a dozen credit card networks discriminate in keeping “bad lists” that prohibit the selling of adult-oriented materials, psychic services and paraphernalia such as bongs and hookahs, according to a class-action suit filed on Thursday. The class suit, filed by convenience store operator Abu Maisa, alleges that Google, Intuit, Square, Stripe, Flint Mobile and PayPal each incorporate a “bad list” that sets boundaries of what the operator can and can’t sell.

  • Bacchus writes, “Here’s a story that should send a chill down the spine of anybody who ever had a profile on an adult social media site. The FBI uses search warrants to collect whole databases of user contact information from adult social media sites, so that it can broadcast a large volume of entrapment emails just to see who bites? Yes, apparently that’s now a thing.”

  • Doctors Gerald Brandacher, W.P. Andrew Lee, and Richard J. Redett at the prestigious Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore are planning the first-ever penis transplant in the United States. It will be conducted in perhaps only a few months. While this penis transplant procedure is untried, Johns Hopkins has given permission for the surgical team to conduct 60 of the operations this year if the initial trial is successful.

  • The website, reviewboard.net, was seized Wednesday afternoon, in what King County calls “A large scale human trafficking investigation conducted by the King County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Bellevue Police Department and support from the FBI.” According to KIRO 7 sources, eight men associated with the site were arrested for promoting prostitution, money laundering, and various other charges. McNeill and McLeod are now joining other sex workers condemning law enforcement’s seizure of the website.

  • “The majority of the sex workers Evie knows who are “out” haven’t gone public by choice — they’ve been exposed online or by law enforcement. Those who disclose, get arrested, or are outed, can lose housing, savings, financial aid, government assistance, and custody of their children. If they have a legit job, they can lose that as well and might fail a background check in the future. This kind of profiling and arrest happens much more frequently to women of color and trans women—something casually referred to as being arrested for “walking while trans.”

  • With his team, Haworth developed the [sex work safety] NUM app based on the charity’s body of knowledge and feedback from sex workers themeslves. Spreading alerts as quickly as possible is a vital part of the app’s offering. As Haworth tells me, the need for it is aptly demonstrated by the case of Thomas Hall, who attacked four sex workers in the course of a single evening in Manchester in 2013. This feature was also inspired by location-based dating apps like Tinder and Grindr. “We wanted to use the same location technology for a very different end,” Haworth tells me.

  • “It was back in 2006 that I wrote my first retrospective post which means that this is the 10th time I’ve looked back at porn for women over the year. In that decade, “porn for women” has become something of an old-fashioned term, replaced by the labels feminist porn, ethical porn, queer porn, new wave porn. A lot has changed – the industry, those making porn and the internet itself. In any case, here’s another look at what’s happened in the world of female-focused erotic content.”

  • Lobbyists who have sex with a Missouri lawmaker or their staff would have to disclose it to the Missouri Ethics Commission, under a bill introduced Wednesday in the Missouri House. The bill, sponsored by Republican Rep. Bart Korman from Montgomery County, defines sex between lobbyists and legislators as a gift. As such, sexual relations would have to be included on monthly lobbyist gift disclosure forms.

  • “[Madams are different.] In Vegas, a lot of the women who madams work with are a lot more established in their personal lives. Maybe they have a career, a family, or they have children. A lot of them have been in magazines like Playboy or Maxim. They’re sort of established in their home life and the madam acts as a dating mechanism.”

  • “(…) But first, here’s how the [VR porn] game works. One puts on a virtual headset like Avegant Glyph or the Facebook-owned Oculus Rift — which, for the record, does not condone the use of adult content on its system, but won’t block it either. Right now, the game is designed such that the player has two controllers which they use as hands to do what they will to the performers in the game. In time, teledildonics will be part of the equation, too.”

  • Just three-quarters of women ages 18-24 (75.9 percent) say they’re attracted only to men, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s latest report. Among young men 18-24, just 88.6 percent say they’re attracted only to women. “I’ve never seen that figure below 90 percent,” said Ritch Savin-Williams, a professor of developmental psychology at Cornell University and an author on several books about gender orientation. “There’s a progression away from straightness, if you will.”
