trans, gender and cross-dressing
There are some really great books on trans identity, figuring out gender questions (or not), understanding trans and cross-dressing partners, and some uber-fab books with detailed suggestions for cross-dressing -- but sadly, when bookstores cut their stock, these wonderful books are the first to go. These are my favorites, and I think they're worth their weight in gold.
My Gender Workbook Bornstein
Um, do you have a question? We all do, and this fabulous book quizzing, entertaining and enlightening the reader about gender perceptions and roles, and where you fit in all of this, is both fun and essential. Whether you want to play with gender, feel like you got the wrong body at birth or are not sure about what's going on with a friend, this book is a thought-provoking guide through territory that can be confusing at best.
True Selves Brown + Rounsley
Here it is: when you feel that you are a gender other than that you got at birth, you feel trapped, like an impostor, or worse -- plus, it's confusing, scary and lonely. This book details coping with a physical gender that's incongruous with who you really are, how to come out, all the practicalities of transitioning (and hormones + surgery), all while offering truly helpful guidance for families, lovers and friends. It's a bit dry but extremely sensitive, and it's a few years old so the horrmone and surgery info might not be up to date, but it's a stellar and much-needed book.
Miss Vera's Cross-Dress for Success: A Resource Guide for Boys Who Want to Be Girls Vera
The basics and lots of solid advice for male-to-female cross-dressing, including the practicalities of picking a name, covering stubble, grooming eyebrows, picking out the perfect wig, hair removal, coming out and unleahsing the inner sissy (if that's what you feel like) and more.
Miss Vera's Finishing School for Boys Who Want to Be Girls Vera
Miss Vera ought to know, as she's been the headmistress at the world's first, real cross-dressing academy in New York; but unlike her first book which is really mostly nuts-and-bolts practicalities, this tome explores what it is to be a cross-dress femme and pulls from her own experiences and history as a very visible MTF. Not just a gender manifesto, she also communicates what you need to walk out into the world in those high heels.
The Lazy Crossdresser Anders
But say you're a cross-dresser yet just can't wrap your brain around traditional models of feminiinity as *your* model? That's where Charlie Girl (here as Julia) saves the day, dishing much needed advice for going out into the world without spending three hours on makeup or trying to pass -- and how to pass without going though a huge effort. From makeup to body language, this is a great book for the modern cross-dressing girl.
Ultimate Guide to Sexual Fantasy Blue
Yup, it's my book -- and one that I'm extremely proud of. Your first cross-dresisng experiences might come through fantasy or role-play; here is a great turnkey for trying out those fantasies in your relationship. Sexual fantasy is an essential tool for hot sex, and here I explain how to use fantasies in partner sex, how to role-play, asking for a spanking (or anything else you want to ask for sexually), what to do in dominant or submissive sex roles, how to talk dirty, strip or give a lapdance; I suggest oodles of sexual fantasies and tell you how to make them come true... like my Sweet Life: Erotic Fantasies for Couples, but "hands on". Note the huge chapter on threesomes, multiple partner sex and voyeurism, and another whole chapter devoted to sexual fetishes.
Come Hither by Gloria Brame
This wonderful book is on my most-recommended list for those interested in exploring kink and BDSM, especially if you're new to all of it, or have a lover who is interested and you're not so sure... It's also on the of the few books about exploring kink that addresses issues of resolving faith (like Christianity) and kink-inclined interests within relationships.
The Mistress Manual Lorelei
Female dominance can talke on a multitude of roles and forms, especially depending on the roles or needs of your submissive. But whether you're simply the woman who takes the upper hand when necessary or a goddess fit for worship from a sissy maid, this fabulous book details everything from what to wear to what to say, tasks and trials to put your submissive (or sissy) through, sample slave contracts and much more. Focused toward advanced players.
The Ultimate Guide to Strap-On Sex Lotney
Most sex books glance over the subject of strap-on sex, if they even mention it at all; this fabulous book, written in a humorous, almost whimsical tone, is the primer for all adventures in the world of buying, wearing and using a strap-on. The book is for all genders and orientaitons, and while you won't find much for the bend-over-boyfriend crowd in terms of information, you will find tips on packing (wearing a strap-on in public), female to male trans strap-on advice and a great introduction to the many different types of models and styles, and how they're useful (or not).
The Family Jewels: A Guide to Male Genital Play and Torment Haberman
The book's title already hints at the playful tone in the text; but nothing belies the wealth of information imparted about cock bondage, male genital play, cockrings and cages, and all sorts of ways to torment and give (safe) pain to the male genitals. Required reading for anyone who plays with pain and the boy basket; plus advanced sections you won't find in any other book.
