Falbert, thank you. Your comment means a lot. I was thinking about how others deal with it too, of course. Since I work in media and have gone in the direction of investigative tech reporting (focus on crime and corruption), I've paid particular attention to when other journos screw up, and how they (or their bosses) deal with it. I've seen some of my colleagues (even famous ones) do shameful things such as make a mistake in reporting and then make significant changes without telling readers - and others at other big news outlets massively rewrite the story and not tell anyone (Washington Post's first Prism story), or delete pages altogether (Daily Mail on Wikipedia/Kazakhstan).

All I'm saying is that I think there is a lot to be learned from mistakes, and I really appreciate the kind words for dealing with my error in the way that I did. <3

Don't flog yourself too much over the link to the alleged Texas male masturbation article, Violet. Mistakes happen, and the linked to article really made it hard to tell, much like some of the advertisements that you see in newspapers and magazines that are initially written in the style of the news articles, but have the word 'advertisement' printed in teeny-tiny letters down at the bottom.

So far as I can tell, your track record is way better than that of the traditional print media, judging by the corrections section that in the newspaper at least two or three times a week. And you've owned right up to it, rather than burying it in on the bottom of page five.
