The odd thing though is that there are other EU counties with even lower age of consent, e.g. Spain at 13 (crime is only committed if someone “tricks” someone under 16 into sex). In the UK you’d get a criminal record and go on the sex offenders register unless you were of a similar age. There are a few with the age of consent of too 14 e.g. Albania and Austria.
