Above is the just-released video that Kanye West made for supermodel Aja Rubik’s pet project 25 Magazine. When I saw the announcement about Rubik’s magazine a while back, I was both excited (because, as you know, I post a lot of porn/couture hybrids) and frustrated (because the project had a whiff of pretention and the website was basically a dead-end for visitors). Which is all why I didn’t post anything about it previously; there was no “there” there.
West’s video was made for Rubik, who’s a longtime pal of West, and it’s his contribution to the magazine. Now that content is beginning to be on offer for the magazine, I regret to say that the mag’s website is a continual dead-end for content, and I advise you not to visit the site unless your fetish is feeling like you just got a no-release hand job from an anorexic stripper named JavaScript.
Maybe the website is such a disappointment in both UI and eroticism because Rubik and West haven’t explored the vast online world of erotic fashion and erotic couture. In an interview about the collaboration with West Rubik told NYMag,
It’s funny. We talked about porn looks these days, and he agreed with me that there’s no porn out there that is beautiful aesthetically and integrates fashion to make a beautiful image.
The video has its moments, but blink and you’ll miss them. Kanye West’s video isn’t the kind of fashion porn we’re used to around here. It’s not awful, but it’s a pretty amateur attempt at merging kink and couture. It’s not erotic and it’s trying way too hard to be edgy (without understanding the fetishes it’s weakly imitating), it’s not inspiring, and – of course – it stars Kanye West’s ego, ostensibly for the purpose of ego-fapping. I don’t mean to be harsh but if you’re going to make porn for self-indulgence, then do that – but don’t make porn out of the fabric of your own ego and then tell us it’s elevating the cultural conversation about porn. That’s just insulting.

When Google announced its “Project Glass” eyeglasses were about to be made available to developers at Google I/O this week, Pink Visual spokesman Quentin Boyer said his company will be first in line to develop and innovate with them for porn once as soon as Pink Visual can get a set. Insanity: The UK government is to consider putting (even more) extra pressure on computer users to filter out pornography when setting up internet accounts, suggesting that people should automatically be barred from accessing adult material (and other types of material considered “unsuitable”) in order “to protect children.” The latest proposed system proposed is called “active choice-plus.” Automatic bar on net porn considered (BBC)

Eidos life president Ian Livingstone says the upcoming reboot of Tomb Raider still features a strong, capable heroine and believes reaction to the game’s controversial trailer – and the, you know, interview with stuff about rape and Lara Croft – have been blown out of proportion. Argh, Hulk smash! Major news outlets, print and TV, turn mainly to male sources for their take on abortion, birth control and Planned Parenthood, according to a study by 4th Estate, a research group that monitors campaign coverage. Women don’t even rate as the most common sources for reports about women’s rights, a catch-all category that excludes reproductive issues, the group said. Journalists go to men on women’s issues (The Age AU)
Not only is Tenga the top masturbation toy of choice for most toy-happy guys, but TinyNibbles readers love it too – so it’s exiting to find out that Tenga is releasing the TENGA x Keith Haring line to honor the spirit and mission of Haring. A reporter for the Houston Chronicle newspaper named Sara Tressler was fired when the paper found out she was also a stripper on the side. She is now suing the paper for wrongful termination. That lawsuit has yet to be resolved, but she has written a book about her experiences called “Diary of an Angry Stripper.” Self-proclaimed ‘Angry Stripper’ talks with FOX 10 (FOX 10 News)

I discovered the Kevin @ Bayard Studios Vimeo channel by chance and am so glad I did: he recently uploaded a number of very sexy NSFW short fashion videos and they’re comprised of much dirty, kinky, fetishy fun. My three faves (so far) are here in this post.
It describes their ethos about making porn that’s explicit, pretty, respectful to performers and viewers, ethical, privacy focused, they support women’s causes, equal rights, and “fair trade.” Their philosophy underscores what I’ve been describing for years as the trend in adult sales to become more customer and human-focused – what I call “the Whole Foods approach to porn.”
The MetArt lineup consists of five high-end websites that (in my opinion) have changed the face of porn. The original site, MetArt, has been around for ten years. The Life Erotic features female masturbation; EroticBeauty is natural amateur nude models; Errotica-Archives features explicit erotic photography style of Erro; their new site SexArt showcases hardcore (yet intimate) boy-girl sex and solo female masturbation scenes.
(Disclosure: I am a proud MetArt affiliate.) MetArt’s philosophy states,
(…) Fair Trade
Our models and photographers are not just a “resource” or “the talent”; they’re our partners and family, the face of our company. We practice “fair trade” in an industry sometimes known for deception and mistrust. We work with only the very best talent, and make every effort to ensure their happiness and ability to earn a respectable income. We are proud to say that our models and photographers are the highest paid in the industry.

This is the kind of porn that qualifies for what I feature here on TinyNibbles. MetArt is a major company, and a big presence in online porn for well over a decade now. But despite MetArt’s sprawling websites and many imitators, they are the exact kind of porn that is routinely ignored by people that prefer to characterize *all porn* as degrading or lurid, and that the women are coerced. As we see here, these negative characterizations are on their way to becoming more obviously wrong than ever.
