Straight male here. I just wanted to pop in and say that I actually prefer it when the men in my porn are attractive. If they’re not, my mind goes all topsy turvy and wonders how an ugly guy like that gets a lady like that–not that it doesn’t happen in real life, but I prefer to not deal with the cognitive dissonance.

Is it just me or is that Slate article incredibly awkward? I agree that men aren’t inherently homophobic and that the nature of porn that turns straight women on is much more threatening to straight men. Particularly when it involves a relatively attainable actor like James Deen who for all intents and purpose could be your “bro.” Oooh… Does it bother men because of their homophobia? Because the idea of women enjoying porn? Or because it means “your bro could be serving your girl The Turbo and she might really enjoy that, bro” … Ow, thinking like a bro has made my head hurt.

Though personally, if there has to be a guy in my porn (and not a hella-packing Jiz Lee), make mine a James Deen.

Though, judging by the photos in the GOOD article, someone needs to hire him an interior decorator in a major way.

Wait, botox in the vag isn’t necessarily ridiculous. It can in some cases be a legitimate treatment for vaginismus & pelvic floor dysfunction. But unfortunately botox carries so much stigma in and of itself, because it’s associated with vanity, that most folks still roll their eyes when first confronted with such a treatment. It is too bad the Nerve editor did not read the rest of the Cosmo submission, I would be curious to see if that’s mentioned at all. In fact one of the commenters explicitly states, that woman developed a trainwreck of a yeast infection, and as a result of that her vaginal muscles tensed up beyond her control.

This particular site tends towards being anti-medicine wrt vaginsimus, but it presents some pros & cons about botox as an option: Before using Botox for vaginismus

Also unfortunately since it ‘s still a new thing, it’s not typically covered by insurance, so, that sucks.

Like on the MTV True Life special about women with painful sexual problems, one of them had botox + physical therapy to work on the pelvic floor muscles.
