As for "using school computers to run the site"... she used her laptop to log in to the site and do admin tasks. People, like me, who get computers from work routinely use them for non-work tasks at home. For example I use my laptop from work for banking, personal email, surfing, shopping, and looking at porn while I'm at home. I also use it to watch movies. None of these activities use up a resource that belongs to my work. Since the activities are at home in my free time, they don't detract from my work or disrupt my coworkers. (In my case, I'm smart enough to have done a fresh OS install when I got the computer and it's encrypted. So even if some busy body at work wanted to seize the machine, they still have no access to anything I've used it for. ) Anyhow, I think we need some legislation that explicitly protects personal use of work-provided computing devices such as laptops and cell phones when the person is using the devices during free time away from work.
