Hi,

I agree on the fact that Shelley Lubben was emotionally unstable…but she never was! She wasn’t before making porn, and certainly not after. Pornography’s lifestyle never had the reputation to make more balanced human beings. And after having left pornography, she turned to religion. We all know that sex and religion don’t sleep in the same bed, and it did discredit a lot of her testimony. But still, in this case I give her the benefice of the doubt, because she may not have the emotional balance and knowledge, to explain and defend her case, but she’s the one who was fucked like an animal…by animals!!! Sometimes we have to open our mind and try to have empathy for the other.

Oh! That’s so sweet, because I’m a fan of yours. I’ve had your “Our Porn, Ourselves” link on my blog for some time. You’re work is incredible and I’m certain I am not even fully aware of just how incredible it really is. :)

I, personally, hope there is an opportunity to explore the pros and cons of pornography, and sex work in general, in the near future, without the threat of being attacked by people like Dines and Lubben. That would be very nice.

I haven’t seen anything from you regarding the fight over Title X funds in Congress that could shut down women’s health/reproductive clinics and Planned Parenthood. Do you plan to write anything about it? It seems like the news isn’t reporting much about it, so it’s not a well-known issue, but it could impact thousands of families. It’s sad, because the women who can’t afford these services otherwise are the ones who *really* can’t afford kids!

I agree 100%. I have a personal investment to know what is positive and what is whitewash about porn, and I’ve worked hard to find that (obviously, as outlets like AVN hate and attack me for pointing out things like their horrifying racism).

I’m with you – I want a real debate. We would all benefit. Sexademic would be great for the reasonable pro-porn side. The other side…. well, it requires more than the fervor of one religion, to say the least.

While I strongly disagree with the anti-porn perspective personally, I feel like it is important to listen to criticism of the industry. (Lubben doesn’t exactly present real criticism but more of illogical BS.)

I would enjoy seeing someone who isn’t emotionally unbalanced and irrational present a case against pornography.
