[Video] Forrest & Bob Underwear Ad

by Violet Blue on December 24, 2010

Looking at this super sexy video ad for Forrest & Bob Underwear (link: omghot), we all think ‘where the hell does this run’? The answer is not on TV, and likely not in Europe, where us domestics tend to think all the sexy ads get to run free. No, I think this ad likely only runs wild and happy on the internets. Which may be the home of no-constraints free-range (and possibly the most effective) advertising, ever.

Found through my pals at Adrants, who coupled this video with a short post musing about whether or not sex works in ads – if “sex sells” (and a shout-out to me). “Initially sexual imagery can ‘sell’ – when it comes to attracting attention to an ad (…) But, it can be a lame cop-out used by marketers who lack imagination to create more compelling work that will sustain itself beyond the initial titillation. Despite studies minimizing its benefits, sex will continue to be used in advertising because it’s a quick and easy solution which doesn’t require much thought and can garner the immediate attention some marketers need for their promotional efforts.”
