Sunday Nibbles: Apple Again, FDA Blocks Contraceptive, Economist on Male Attraction, Cher’s Nipples

by Violet Blue on December 12, 2010

* Apple is getting called out for only allowing newspapers and media who alter, censor, or change their content into the app store, as per Apple’s censorship policies. Ekstra Bladet is prepared to take Apple to the EU-tribunal over the Page 9 girl, which they see as a necessary part of free speech. Amen. (cphpost.dk)

* This is very upsetting and needs more attention: did you know that the FDA is *still* blocking American citizens’ access to emergency contraception? So much so, and for so long now, that they are pretty much lying about it and being taken to court. (siecus.org)

* Shakespeare was a perv. No big omg here, but the Guardian UK lifted its arrogantly anti-porn skirts for a second to look at the pornographer Shakespeare endorsed in writing. (guardian.co.uk)

* Things can be just as ugly and scary in San Francisco for sexual minorities as elsewhere. A transgender person went to the local DMV to change her gender and name on her Diver’s License – only to be stalked and harassed via mail by a DMV employee, who apparently has done this before. (abclocal.go.com)

* Cher’s nipples look great. (thesuperficial.com)

* Great sunday reading, even if super gender-binary: The Economist looks at science on why women find some guys hunkier and more attractive than other guys. This discussion will become more interesting when it expands to why women find some women hunkier and more attractive than other women, but you know… We’re always ten years ahead here. (economist.com)

Image: self-portrait. I got a new haircut and slip. A couple more pics after the jump, because you never see me on here these days…

The last pic is the best… self-assured, centered, basking in a glow of pleasure and satiation and desire freshly reawakened, the id and the self content and happy, harming no one, loving life. Never surrender. Carpe Diem. Carpe Noctem. Thank you, Violet. Never think your words and your works are unappreciated. You push history forward. Keep pushing.

What a beautiful garment and pictures of you. The baroness of sexual information shares some of her erotic self. Thank you.

The slip is gorgeous, and it looks great on you!

I love reading your blog, it keeps me up to date and inspires me to keep poking around for information on what’s really happening. I wish we had an equivalent sleuth in Canada! (Although I appreciate how international your information often is.)

You’re my primary inspiration in all the crazy projects I’ve taken on this last year – starting a bisexual/pansexual group in Calgary, getting together with friends once a month to write erotica, advocating loudly for access to and acceptance of porn. You really are a leader!

Also, the boots are super hot. Are they Fluevogs? I keep wanting to splurge, but haven’t yet.

It’s an interesting lesson that your pictures generate so many comments. Obviously your community enjoys seeing its fearless leader from time to time!

Absolutely stunning.

I hope it inspires more of your great books.

Great pictures… that slip looks like it was made just for you.

Wow, Great look. Question: Is there something to the keys you wear? I see alot of women wearing them.

11 AnthonyA December 13, 2010 at 11:16 am

Interesting change of haircut, and a nice bit of lacy dress there.

I’m more interested, though, in the keys. Are they functional keys – i.e. do you have locks that they unlock? Or are they for show?

Mysteriously Sexy!

I am loving the haircut. Thank you for sharing the photos.

That new doo looks terrific. Thank you, as always, for the provocative reading links.

15 violet December 13, 2010 at 2:37 am

Thank you both!

@Tom It’s from Free People (Millicent Slip) – I splurged. Very comfortable, lots of great details you can’t see on the site that make it very unique. Worth it. Still, I’ve only worn it for the photos because it’s been too cold and rainy in SF for slips and dresses.

Thanks for saying I look good in it! It’s a bit odd to buy something and want to be adored in it, but not quite have that at hand – and not want to be icky about it with social media.

So, basically, your compliment is perfectly delivered and means a lot.

The slip is nice. Where is it from? (Also, you look good wearing it.)

17 John December 12, 2010 at 9:08 pm

As always, I enjoy following your words.

The pictures are a very welcome bonus!

Keep up the good fight letting people know about the hypocrisy in the world.
