This is beautiful, brilliant, and of course, darkly tragic. Design studio Nation used the 2600 list of words Google blacklisted for their “Instant” search function and made a Google Blacklist holiday card generator (wearenation.co.uk). It’s filthy and funny – and it shows just how ridiculous the words actually are on Google’s list of filtered words. You have been protected from “assmunch.”
FYI: My name is on Google’s Instant search blacklist (I know!) but I didn’t get it to come up in Nation’s generator, so you’re warned in case you see my name – I am not affiliated with this excellent project.

Note the sentence “blacklisted for their “Instant” search function” . . . Google has a list of words that will not come up *instantly* with results when you type them in, most notably sexual terms (you’ll have to press enter to see your results, in other words).
For example, I can get as far as “assm” (and its drop-down results of “assmann electronics”, “assmann plastic tanks”, etc.) before Google realizes nothing PG-13 is likely forthcoming from my search and stops its suggestions.

Thanks for the love Violet. The only stuff we removed from the list were people’s names (such as yours) as it was difficult to make them make sense in the context of the message, and the racist stuff (as its just a bit nasty)… everything else is still in there :)
