Whereas before children were showing incredible creativity and ingenuity to express gender ideas, now they've just got another cookie-cutter model playing out pre-determined roles. "Girls are fairies, and wear fairy clothes; boys are sparrow-men, and .wear sparrow-men clothes." And what's that going to say to the little girl who wants her fairy to wear a top hat?
