a sketch artist at a sex party

by Violet Blue on April 8, 2010

I just discovered this elaborate scene from The Upper Floor dated April 2 (only last weekend), and it looks like they had one very decadent party. In a blend of art and sex, they invited a sketch artist. If I’m guessing correctly, that looks like the art of Suzanne Rachel Forbes, a local live-action artist who used to be a CBS/CNN court sketch artist. I interviewed her for the SF Chronicle here. The gallery has a few more art shots, pictures and videos and is quite explicit. It also features everyone’s favorite supporter of the arts, feminist gallery owner Madison Young, evidently taking a relaxing night off from Femina Potens. Personally, I really want to see the art. I think live drawing a sex party is a really cool idea.

The London Times named Violet Blue "One of the 40 bloggers who really count" and Self Magazine named TinyNibbles one of the “Best Sex Resources for Women.” Blue is an autodidact and pundit on sex and technology, hacking and security, porn for women, privacy and bleeding-edge tech culture. She is a journalist for ZDNet, CBS News, CNET; she's an educator, speaker, crisis counselor, volunteer NGO trainer, and the author and editor of over 40 award-winning books.

Thanks for the love Violet. The event was called Thin Line between Art and Sex and it was a benefit for Femina Potens for our Femina Potens members featuring 20 different artists including Suzanne Forbes along with painters, sketch artists and even someone doing needle point of hotness. We will be having another Art and Sex event in May so you will have to be sure to attend and I’m featuring another similar event called Art Unveiled that Suzanne and Marc Taro are creating art at.

Darling Violet, thanks so much for giving me a shout out and recognizing my work ! I was indeed at that event, it was a fabulous event, and I did tons of drawings- but because the event is a benefit like Art of Restraint or Nude Aid, the drawings were snapped up by the patrons who’d paid for entry and artwork. I do have photos I took of the drawings- I’ll get those up on flickr ASAP :) check my flickrstream here- http://www.flickr.com/photos/32609854@N00/

Great art, and I think I’ve found my new dream job. :O

I am loving these photos. I can imagine that in such a vibrant setting, a few pens would have been knocked out of place causing more than a little frustration to the artist ;)
