the Snuggie Kama Sutra — and yes, Snuggie porn

by Violet Blue on March 23, 2010

Whenever I’m asked in interviews why people sexualize technology, I have a number of reasons on offer: tech is incorporated into our lifestyles, it gives us new ways to connect and communicate with others and that can be emotional or intimate, it offers privacy, allows us to explore our inhibitions, we can seek answers to embarrassing questions, and much more. It all seems reasonable. Alas, when confronted by The SnuggieSutra (thanks to my friend Ed Rabbit) — I just don’t know what to say. It’s the unsexiest blanket ever made. And yet, Ed managed to not only find actual Snuggie pornography, he found a site dedicated to the high-minded pursuit of Snuggie sex positions for couples. Of course they are on Twitter (like you even needed to ask).

That’s hilarious. I don’t think I’ll be able to see those commercials the same way again.

For what it’s worth, your link to the blog seems to be broken now. I was worried he had gotten a take-down notice or something, but the site is up and working… just not that particular page.

Thanks for brightening my day.

Wow, that is just fantastic. Makes me want to pull my own Snuggie out of the closet and put it to use.
