I would like to nominate a couple! Thad and Xiomara Glindmeyer. Thad is a teacher at my college, he teaches network security and forensics (we know he is hacker, he just won’t admit it to us ) Thad is also a musician (percussionist). His super hot wife is a graphic designer who has a fashion blog for those with their own sense of style. Xio, as she is called , is an artist and one of the most interesting women my fellow classmates and I know. Here is a link to Xio’s blog and Thad’s website. My prof, Prof. Jim O’Brien, at Cal would totally fit. He’s writes code for video games and movies. On his website http://www.cs.berkeley.edu/~job it talks about the tech that he has worked on for game companies like EA and LucasArts. I think he’s sexy for an older man, but alas he’s straight and married, and I know he would take getting a sexy geek award from Violet Blue for a compliment.

Emily Oster is a brilliant economist and positively stunning to boot. Not a tech geek per se, but I would say a geek none-the-less. She certainly fulfills the requirements of: “Smart, nerdy and HOT.”

I second Felicia Day. She’s a Geek’s geek. She’s as geeky as it gets, not afraid to make fun of herself, and adorable, to boot.

Also… and I don’t know that he counts as a celeb, since he’s not all *that* well known, the musical artist Voltaire. Have you heard his songs based on Star Trek? He’s a riot, and dead sexy with those piercings poking off the top of his ears. Can you say stainless steel elf? Hawt!

Finally, Jonathan Coulton is still a cult favorite rather than a true celeb, methinks. His geek cred is undeniable. A code monkey who went rogue and started to use the web to publish songs about, among other things, geekitude? And he’s a cutie, too.

As it happens, I made a post singing praises for my wife Peggy’s long-standing geekery while I was bobbing in St. George’s Harbour, Bermuda, waiting on weather:

This year she taught herself Ruby so she could contribute to the “Archive of Our Own” ( AO3)project under the aegises of The Organization for Transformative Works, and per her usual, she rapidly rose from a complete novice to a project leader in about much time as it’s going to take me to write this commnet.

The AOC project has been called one of the most exciting women-run open source coding projects currently underway on the web, and is devoted to creating a “safe-harbor” for fan communities and fan-fic, both from bogus claims copyright infringement and from capricious TOS enforcement at places like Live Journal. (I’m sure you remember the purges from a couple of years back. Well that provided the impetice for a diverse group of academics, lawyers and coders to create the OTW and the AO3 project.)

If that wasn’t enough, last e-mail check, Peggy told me she just scored a deal on an open-box linux machine running something called Mint (I think), so while me and the girls are snorkeling, Peggy will be woodshedding on linux.

Oh, she helped me design, source and build the solar/wind hybrid power generation system that provided the electricity on our boat — enough to run all the systems including a freezer, fridge, and AC for our computer. (I’m editing our next film while waiting for her and the girls.)

She’ll never brag about herself, it’s her style, but where hardcore geekery meets sexy, I can’t think of anyone with as diverse and accomplished a range of credentials!
