tonight in SF: Christine Kessler at Madame S

Being on the Femina Potens newsletter is well worth it; I’m still an ardent fan of talk lists as news sources and newsletters for orgs and certain people who do cool non-spammy stuff. (However, I get added nonconsensually to email lists all the time, and trust me, it’s the best way to actually instant add yourself to my “I hate you” list.) On the Potens list I’ve been hearing about FP Edge, an artists’ network where the gallery gets cutting edge erotic, and sex culture activist artists into other spaces: tonight is the opening for Christine Kessler’s show at SOMA based kinky retailer Madame S. I had a great time at Madame S (funny video + article + photos) when I profiled them a while back, and I’m excited to go see Kessler’s work at the store tonight.

Christine Kessler is a hardworking mastermind and truly gifted photographer. Her new book Nylon Girls is available for pre-order at Amazon US, but can be ordered and shipped now at Amazon UK. She also is the women who shot the cover of my book Best Women’s Erotica 2009 (UK link). I really enjoy her work, and if you’re curious as to what her fetish diary is like, I went in to her site’s UI and picked out some of my favorite (free) galleries of her work with so many talented and famous models. She could be called the female Andrew Blake, but Kessler’s got a distinctive style.
