Most national polls for example have sample sizes of around 1000. The area in which the study sample seems to fail is that the sample group was University of Texas students and the women were predominately white. If you want to study the reasons for having sex for University of Texas women, this might be a good sample group. This sample though is not in the least bit representative of women in the US as a whole. This of course totally ignores how the study was conducted, something I really can't comment on.
