If you haven't read them yet, I highly recommend the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series by Laurel K. Hamilton. It's totes the anit-Twilight. The female lead is a strong and decisive woman who kicks ass and wrestles with the ethics of both fighting and dating humans, vampires.and lycanthropes and having hot sex with all combinations thereof. She starts out shy and somewhat constrained by typical female programming but grows into defining her place in many worlds on her own terms.
