Wow! It’s totally not explicit but it’s incredibly erotic (and so therefore may not last on YouTube). The trailer for Tristan Taormino’s sex ed video “Rough Sex” is a must-see for a variety of reasons. It’s eye candy, the women open up a variety of perspectives and dialogues about rough sex. And most importantly, the varied reasons why they like it. In the trailer we also get to see them start to put their fantasies into action. Hotness. Heterosexually focused, the women in “Rough Sex” (gamelink.com) take control or surrender control to men they trust, and we’re able to get into the heads of performers like Adrianna Nicole, Marie Luv and Sasha Grey to find out how they feel and what they think regarding their attraction and enjoyment of what’s typically considered a taboo to portray, and to desire (sexual female submission with male domination).

It’s a great movie. I’ve had a copy for a while and am quite impressed (thank you Tristan!) — I recommend it highly. You will watch it more than once; it’s titillating and there’s a lot to take away from it. Excellent!

I really want to go to the British Museum and the British Public Library after reading Rude Britannia: Erotic secrets of the British Museum (entertainment.timesonline.co.uk). From what I understand, as an author I actually can visit the British Public Library — which I think I’ll try do do when I visit the UK in December! Here’s why I want to go:

As the heavy doors of Cupboard 205 swing open in the Department of Prints and Drawings in the British Museum, I can’t believe my luck. This is my exclusive peek inside a piece of antique furniture that, for many decades, has been privately known to the department’s staff as “the Porn Cupboard”. This is where stacks of racy and disturbing pictures, regarded as unfit for public attention, have traditionally been kept out of sight.

The British Museum has a strict duty to preserve objects — even pornographic ones — for posterity. A historic object isn’t any less historic because it causes offence, and the guardians of our cultural heritage can’t suddenly start behaving like the Taliban. So exactly how much controversial material has the museum collected? What’s on Her Majesty’s top shelf?

Most of the Porn Cupboard’s contents today look respectable: here are printing plates for the reproduction of thoroughly decent works by Turner and Dürer. That’s because, since the latter part of the 20th century, a lot of erotic material has been removed from the cupboard and repositioned in the department. “We’ve been integrating the contents of it into the main collection,” explains Sheila O’Connell, assistant keeper of prints and drawings. For instance, there used to be a Rembrandt etching in the cupboard called The Bed, depicting a couple making love, with the man on top of the woman; but that is now with the other Rembrandts in the museum’s Department of Prints and Drawings, on the fourth floor. You can request it and, as long as nobody else is busy looking at it, they will show it to you. There used to be sheaves of banned Georgian cartoons by Thomas Rowlandson in Cupboard 205, but now, providing you have come of age, you can go to Prints and Drawings and study Rowlandson’s images of gentlemen and saucy wenches having explicit intercourse on beds, on road journeys, and beside gravestones. I’m really not sure what Kelly Brook is. Or more accurately, why she’s famous. Though she did date Jason Statham. That’s hot. Still… the woman’s career is a mystery wrapped inside an enigma augmented with a riddle. But I do “get it” about Kelly Brook when I look at pictures of her in nothing but underwear. That makes sense to me. There’s a nice gallery from the pages of Loaded magazine here (wwtdd.com).

Also spotted down the page and notable because it’s a developing story: the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is looking for ‘Girls Gone Wild’ founder Joe Francis in connection with an alleged assault on Jayde Nicole, Playboy’s 2008 Playmate of the Year. From Radar: “According to Nicole, the attack happened after she spilled her drink on Francis. She says Francis became enraged and grabbed her by the hair, punched her, threw her to the ground where he kicked her. I was thrilled to hear about last night’s local event the National Cougar Ball, which took place in Palo Alto — I really wanted to go. But only women over 40 were allowed, and even if I tried to sneak in as press it was sold out by the time I found out about it. Damn! I begged the universe for a secret agent to attend and bring back a report with pictures or video — I’m fascinated by cougar hawks. Luckily, my friend Beth Spotswood went (but if anyone out there went and has tales to tell, please contact me).

While asking Twitter for help cougar spotting — and a “GO COUGARS!” mascot t-shirt of any kind — snorklewacker responded with a species I did not know existed: The Manther. To wit:

Noun. Origin: the male form of a “cougar”, man + panther= manther. An older man who frequents bars, lounges and clubs, never a genuine gentleman, ranging from ten to fifty years older than his victim. Usually carries an unusually fat wallet, wears too much cologne, and dresses younger than his age. May over-frequent the tanning beds and gym, have trendy/dyed facial hair such as a soul patch or goatee, may use the terms “baby”, “sugar tits”, or other female defamation when trying to pursue his prey. If balding, may never take off his ball cap in order to hide his aging hairline. Manthers always seem to evade the question of their age, previous or current marriages, children, and most things regarding their past (unless it has to do with thier old frat/college football days). Manthers prey on their younger victims in order to gain popularity amongst their fellow mathers, as well as for a sexual high. Some manthers are extremely good looking, stylish and somewhat gentlemanly. Others are old, drunk dirt balls with a lot of money and a feeling of self-entitlement. (link)
