Image of Elisabetta Canalis by Ms.KaT0.

Lux’s post directed my attention to Mr. Hotter As He Gets Older, George Clooney’s newest girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis — and her sexiness, to me, makes him seem ever more alluring. And she’s seriously drop-dead gorgeous. Lux has this collection of a few topless pics, but Ms. Canalis is a pinup model all over the net — a quick Flickr search (with Safe Search off) will yield hours a few concentrated and satisfying moments of enjoyment and envy. And inspiration.

I feel like there are some Public Enemy lyrics to quote here, along the lines of “Here we go again.” Jiz sent me the link earlier but I was in day 3 of reading over 200 pages of erotica on deadline (and somewhere around a 1.5 hour interview with a NYT writer about my past and family) when I got Stimulus Bill Funds Go to Art Houses Showing ‘Pervert’ Revues, Underground Pornography. It’s the NEA circa Helms all over again, no joke — but this time we know the Karen Finley’s and Robert Mappelthorpes and they’re right here in my backyard, on this blog and in our collective lives. They’ve singled out SF’s Perverts Put Out (which Thomas Roche organizes) and CounterPULSE. I’m asked to read at PPO every year. See? Pedestrian. Artsy. But the article’s hysterical quotables are, as the ad goes, priceless…

Talk about a stimulus package.

The National Endowment for the Arts may be spending some of the money it received from the Recovery and Reinvestment Act to fund nude simulated-sex dances, Saturday night “pervert” revues and the airing of pornographic horror films at art houses in San Francisco.

The NEA was given $80 million of the government’s $787 billion economic stimulus bill to spread around to needy artists nationwide, and most of the money is being spent to help preserve jobs in museums, orchestras, theaters and dance troupes that have been hit hard by the recession.

But some of the NEA’s grants are spicing up more than the economy. A few of their more risque choices have some taxpayer advocates hot under the collar, including a $50,000 infusion for the Frameline film house, which recently screened Thundercrack, “the world’s only underground kinky art porno horror film, complete with four men, three women and a gorilla.”

“When you spend so much money in a short amount of time … you’re going to have nonsense like this, and that’s why the stimulus should never have been done in the first place,” said David Williams, vice president for policy at Citizens Against Government Waste. (…read more, foxnews.com)

Further down in the piece they go after the San Francisco lit and arts scene. Gawd, get a life, Joseph Abrams. Oops — I mean, fuck art. No really. Let me show you how.

This week’s SF Chronicle column is The Kinkiest Coffeehouse in the West — Violet Blue: The literal mix of coffee and fetish at Wicked Grounds. The piece a great interview with the proprietrix of Wicked Grounds, soon to be an 18-and-over only coffeehouse in the SOMA district of SF. Sounds like it’s going to be *very* fun, snip:

Like our sex culture here in San Francisco, our coffee culture has become so refined, so fetishized, and so obsessive that it makes even the most debauched, moneyed, extreme fetishist seem ordinary. Just take a trip to delicious Bluebottle at the Mint to watch the connoisseurs ogle and squirm over the coffee machines that cost the same as a car. Our coffee culture has its BDSM parallels in check: don’t even try to be nice to the jerks behind the counter at Four Barrel who openly treat you lower than a pathetic worm who could never possibly be good enough to drink their holy lattes.

Yes, we’ve got some of the best cafes and coffee in the world; but for the attitude at some places, you might as well visit a dominatrix and get your money’s worth. (And you’ll want thank the Mistress for her “17-foot Ceiling” rather than pour your $5 Four Barrel down the drain.)

This hot caffeination might have been the inspiration for Wicked Grounds, opening in SOMA within the next two weeks. Combining San Francisco’s notorious BDSM culture — and the embarrassment of riches we have in kinky people, places and things — with coffee fetishism and cafe culture, it will be a don’t-miss experience for anyone over 18 who’d love to mix cafe culture, great coffee, and decadent fantasy.

Bring a tip for your sexy barista, a leash for your human kitten, and according to Rose White at Wicked Grounds, they’ll provide kitty’s latte in a bowl so you may enjoy the atmosphere with your pet well cared for. (…read more, sfgate.com)

Also, it looks like there’s a sister establishment in the UK: Coffee, Cake and Kink — I hope to visit them when I go to London this December!

My hometown — thank you! I just found out that I’m the reader’s choice for Best Sex Writer 2009 in the Guardian!

Pardon the blog silence; I’m coming to a finish on two manuscripts due on the 1st, sweating out my deadlines. Meanwhile, the SF Examiner gave me a backhanded compliment (listing my book Lust as “too sexy” to read on a do-not-read list including a book on 9/11), but then someone else there – sexaminer – gave me big props in Sex Education 101: The Modern Safer Sex Guide and Oprah Magazine/CNN on women and porn: ‘We’ve demanded better porn and lo, it is being made’. Sweet! Sarah Estrella
is @sexaminer on Twitter.
