The Joydick

Do I even need to explain this? I will because it’s awesome! “Now even if you lose in the game, you can still be a winner in life.” When I talk about future sex, I often tell journalists that much of the innovation is going to come from gaming — because it’s consumer entry level use of force-feedback and haptic devices, affordable and hackable. Case in point: The Joydick;

(…) is a wearable haptic device for controlling video gameplay based on realtime male masturbation. Through the use of a carefully designed strap-on interface, the user’s penis is converted into a joystick capable of moving the character onscreen in all four cardinal directions. For games requiring the fire button, a separate ring can be worn which converts hand-strokes into button presses.

I wonder how many “gaming widows” wish their exes had just cut to the chase and used The Joydick!?!?

  1. Virtual sex games, yeah, of course; but they seem to envision this as something you would use for ordinary non-sex-related video games. That could be problematic. Imagine finally getting to the boss level only to lose the final battle because your game controller suddenly got all floppy and slippery.

  2. I have been waiting for someone to develop an interactive, web based way of men and women (or any other mix) to pleasure one another remotely. You strap something on and the person has something their end that is linked.

    No doubt it will come in time… this is a step in that direction!!

  3. I want one of these, finally I can I feel like I’m actually good at video games!
    Seriously though, the idea of being able to interact with a virtual fiction using an intimate part of your body makes for some interesting scenarios in regards to online socialising and especially online sexuality.

    How long until we find ourself fucking via facebook and our joydicks and their coresponding female toys? Can we make love via the internet or are we limited to no-strings style meaningless sex? My questions are limitless second only to my imigination where this is concerned.

    Thank you for bringing this to my attention!

  4. I wonder what new sexual activities technology like this might spawn in time. Sex toys that react in real time to your response? (you could program them with a number of dynamic behaviors, e.g. prolonged teasing that slows down whenever it senses you are close to an orgasm). Mixed physical/virtual sex? (physical sex where everybody involved is also controlling avatars who are having virtual sex at the same time, although not necessarily doing similar things) Training games? Physical sex games with “points” depending on the mutual level of pleasure?

    Should be an interesting field of research. *g*
