healthy sex toys PSA: Breaking Up With My Blow Up Doll, the musical

by Violet Blue on February 10, 2009

Kinds folksy. Not much dancing — okay, a minute of dancing. Still, fun and informative. The best part is watching someone sing the word “pthalates” in a song. Breaking Up With My Blow Up Doll is from the green activists at Grist. For additional information, check out my unsafe sex toys page. (thanks, Russ!)

The reason many sex toys are marketed as “novelties” is that a number of southern states outlaw the sale of sex toys if they are intended to be used for sex. If the manufacturer says they’re only used for novelty purposes, they can get around the law. Yes it’s asinine and fortunately there is a case in federal court trying to overturn the laws but that’s the main reason for calling sex toys “novelties”.
