Unrelated but really cool image via DrillPop.

Poking around the blogs tonight, I re-encountered this breathtaking post on Eros Blog about nude and topless Japanese pearl diver women from the 1930s-60s. Bacchus updates it with a gorgeous reader contribution and a quote from a book called “Eros In Hell: Sex, Blood, and Madness in Japanese Cinema” that talks about an entire genre of 1950s Japanese cinema around this theme. So cool; the images in his posts are really neat.

How funny, I just stumbled upon an article about this in an old National Geographic I was cutting up for collage! Apparently it’s an ancient tradition. How cool.
