Who needs a bullet bra when you can have one that actually stops bullets? I’m a little late this news item, but two weeks ago it was announced that the bulletproof bra is finally seeing its day in the — well, not sun, exactly, and only in Germany, but you know what I mean. Now we just need Agent Provocateur to design it and we will all walk through the world tits-up, in safety. That’s my dream. Snip:

It is being dubbed the new “bullet-proof bra”, a new kind of Wonderbra which could help protect thousands of women police officers here in Germany. It may sound like a joke, but this is a serious matter – the policewoman who came up with the idea said normal bras can be dangerous when worn in combination with a bullet-proof vest.

“The impact of a bullet can push the metal and plastic bits of the bra into an officer’s body, causing serious injury,” said Carmen Kibat, an adviser on equal opportunities for the Hamburg-based Bundespolizei – Germany’s federal police force.

“I always thought normal bras posed a safety risk and I wanted to change that,” she said. “These new bras are very important and they will help all our women officers.”

  1. As a former solider in the US military and a dame who has worn her fair share of bullet-proof attire I was pretty stoked to see this post… but upon reading all the details I was a bit insulted. Nothing against Ms. Blue of course, I appreciate all of the work you do! But REALLY… it’s just a sports bra that says “police” on it… the said “bullet proof bra” this woman has invented already exists… it’s just a sports bra… like anyother… wtf?!

  2. That bra looks comfortable! I’d certainly want all female officers to be as comfortable as possible. A bad bra can ruin any girl’s day. True that if Agent Provocateur designed one it’d be prettier, but in this case, function certainly outweighs form.

  3. It’s hard to tell from the article, but it seems like these aren’t really bulletproof at all, but rather designed to be safe and add additional padding while wearing other, bullet-resistant gear.

Also: I find it amusing that they have “police” emblazoned on them. No matter what the officer’s state of dress or undress, their duty is clear! And strangely sexy…
