sex educator ducky doolittle

by violet blue on May 21, 2008

Current TV has a great profile recently up about my friend and sex ed colleague Ducky Doolittle. (Too bad they don’t link to her site.) I’ve known Ducky for several years now and I’ve even crashed one of her fabulous workshops; she’s a hardworking East Coast educator and has a fantastic, comprehensive sex information book called Sex With The Lights On. Like me, she also educates other sex educators. What I like about the Current profile on Ducky is that we get to know who she is, and what makes her special — rather than a resume. It’s under five minutes and well worth watching (thanks to Mario for the link!)

I saw this video on another site (where, I can’t remember) and really enjoyed it. She’s so honest and real, and like you mention, it’s a little portrait of who she is. It’s always great to find out about more awesome sex educators. I will definitely be showing this clip to friends!

She is totally rad! I loved hearing about her coming (no pun intended) to something really positive from a place that had been so negative in terms of how she saw her body/body parts. I can totally relate to that in my own way and I love how she uses it to make connections to how people view their bodies and sexualities. Awesome!

It’s always great to see one hot sex educator goddess reference another hot sex educator goddess. :)

Hey Violet,

Thanks for posting about the profile on Ducky. I loved the personal angle the producer took with this as well…too often with sex educators, the big story is “what you do” and not “why you do” or how it factors into “who you are.” This connection is vital, in my opinion.

One note about the link love. The profile video was a viewer submission by online contributor, so they are in control of the description, links, etc. However, one of our staffers added a link to her site in the comment section, so people can get to the resources Ducky so wonderfully provides.
