around the bend and back

silken floss and her cuban heels* Gawker blog i09 has a first peek at costuming of evil secretary Silken Floss (played by Scarlett Johansson, image via) for Frank Miller’s directorial debut, The Spirit — adapted from the 1940s newspaper comic. I’m not a Johansson fan, but I am a huge HUGE fan of Frank Miller’s everything, especially comics (hello, Dark Night, Sin City, + my most inspiring fave Elektra Assassin with Bill Sienkiewicz). And I’m a fan of steep Bettie Page laceup heels, Cuban stockings, nerd glasses on a supervillianess and what looks to be a rubber bra. More images in the post. (Thanks, Praemedia!)

* Spanked Husbands, Satisfied Wives is now available as an ebook for $9.95! If you’re like me and you loved Whap! Magazine, it’s playful 1950s fem-dom erotica where husbands are bad, bad, bad and get into all kinds of trouble…

When Tommy married Suzanne, the gruff fifty year-old divorcee thought he was getting a trophy wife; a pretty accessory to come home to between his affairs. Then Tommy’s twenty five year-old Italian-American princess turned the tables on him. With the flick of one of Suzanne’s cigarettes, Tommy found himself tied spread eagle to his own bed, naked, with his powerful young wife gripping his hips from behind. Now who’s the real princess in this house?

I always loved Whap’s tongue-in-cheek approach to porn: naughty boys caught looking at it had to be punished! In the funnest ways, of course :D

diddo velema gasmasks

* Diddo Velema‘s hot, exclusive, sexy designer gasmasks make me understand a bit more why people incorporate gasmasks into fetish shoots. Like I needed convincing; I SO want the one on the left. Seen and blogged @ Gizmodo, who know nothing of fetish ;)

* Safer sex and fucking to save the rainforest!? It’s Treehugger‘s dream come true. Over at Guardian UK, read about how Brazil is building a bazillion-dollar condom factory to save Amazonian rainforests. Just another excellent reason to use latex — if you’re not allergic, that is. The factory and dispensary/education efforts have kept the rainforest standing and slashed HIV infection rates in South America’s biggest country. Great article, exciting progress.

* Self Serve Toys (Albuquerque, NM) cares about what we stick in our… hoo-has and our collective ooh-has. They’ve declared April Phthalates Awareness Month”. They emailed me saying, “While people are shifting towards greener living nowadays, there is still NO regulation in sex toy manufacturing and lots of unhealthy, toxic products are out there. We’re offering free classes at the store and a sale on silicone toys on our website through the month of April because safety is sexy.” Read more about sex toy safety on my unsafe sex toys page. I *love* their mission, and slogan: “For those who drive all night.”

* Bonus for Flickr peeps: some fun stuff in the photostreams of Chad Michael Ward (do visit his fun site at horror-and-babes-infused Digital Apocalypse) — and the sexily exhibitionistic, lusty erotic couple.

If you’re a Frank Miller fan, then do yourself a favor and check out some of the hardcover collections of Will Eisner’s “The Spirit” –

Diamond-encrusted gasmasks? YKIOK, of course, but it seems to me that the activated carbon belongs inside the filters and not decorating the exterior.

my most inspiring fave Elektra Assassin with Bill Sienkiewicz

That is *so* a classic. I must dig it out and read it again.
