great snips

by Violet Blue on December 4, 2006

I just edited the cocktail robot descriptions for the exhibitions (they get my editing talents in exchange for… drinks). These are great excerpts:

“A ballet of 15, 30, 150, 1000, corkscrews, dancing, generating their own sound, computer-operated, animated!”

“Three different long drinks (plus ice) are prepared by CockBot I in the comfortable atmosphere of the /Swing/, therefore thoughts about rationalisation and efficiency are easily forgotten. A robot which has proven its worth a good many times especially on late evenings.”

“In five steps, limes get squeezed, sugar and alcohol are portioned, the ingredients mixed and the perfect amount of ice is added — and everything is controlled by micro-processing units. A compressor and a pneumatic cylinder make sure that Robomoji has enough power to persevere through those longer cocktail evenings, providing it with everlasting powers envied by many barkeepers.”

“Technological progress in the field of ice production has caused the ice pestle to diminish into the obscurity of urban myths, horror movies of varying quality, and retro-sentimentality. Despairingly, he rears up once more to take revenge on the well-formed ice cube.”

And, David and Jonathan’s really cool robot:

“A very simple drink delivery system, controlled by RFID tags and which operates using pressurized liquids passed through fuel injectors to provide humans with liquid ‘fuel’. When an RFID tag is placed down on the controller, the machine reads the tag to identify which drink to make and creates the drink associated with the particular tag by emitting bursts of liquid from the fuel injectors.”

Jake is now awake, and I am *living* *in* *livejournal*. I will document.
