[video] ain’t no other man (but you)

June 30, 2006 By: violet Category: Uncategorized Comments Off

I bought this song on iTunes yesterday and have listened to it over a dozen times — it’s now my anthem for this summer, for sure. Ain’t No Other Man has bangin’ horns, kick-ass lyrics, and I just discovered that it’s also got a great video, with Aguilera dancing and jiggling in super-sexy vintage foundation wear. Watch, and crank it up:

cute pix

Mark took really cute photos of me tonight! I was also told I was here and here and here today. Broke my necklace. Wrote a chapter today. Bed beckons. Hope to cuddle with a certain machine this weekend.

my huge Lost Girls galley

June 29, 2006 By: violet Category: Uncategorized Comments Off

Remember a while back when I got to show some exclusives from Alan Moore’s new erotic graphic novel (collection) Lost Girls? If you follow Boing Boing, you’ll have seen that this week the estate of Peter Pan is none too pleased with what the adult Wendy gets up to in the book. Read Alan Moore’s erotic “Lost Girls” and Peter Pan copyright woes for more info. This work seems to be pretty controversial out of the gate, and I saw that Moore has been attacked in forums about it (saying he’s endorsing pedophilia), and the artist Gebbe as well (saying she’s un-American). Wow. Well, it’s perfect timing that I just got my thank-you from the publisher — a huge galley copy of Lost Girls, including several gorgeous color prints of the erotic art, and I’ll most certainly get a couple framed. Reading this is going to cover my bed with giagantic prints of Lost Girls! In the photo I slipped off a sandal so you can get an idea for size (I wear a 6 1/2).

bats just shouldn’t go *in* there

June 28, 2006 By: violet Category: Uncategorized Comments Off

yikesbats.jpgNo, I’m not talking about Belladonna and her anal tributes to major league baseball. I was going to put this particularly juicy find on Fleshbot, but I saw that Gram already reviewed the DVD.

However, with all due respek, the only way to do The Princess Has Come of Age any justice in explaining it to you, my dear readers, is for you to watch the extremely NSFW trailer for the big-money CGI porn epic in all its gnome-humping, flower-fucking, robot-grinding, forest-creatures-alarmingly-stuffed-into-orifices glory. Sort of reminds me of (one of) my all-time favorite explicit graphic novels, Bondage Fairies, where tiny cute lesbian fairies Pfil and Pamela have all kinds of outrageous sexual adventures with an array of beasts and bugs (and each other). In it, a thousand year old cedar tree releases libido-enhancing pollen, and we get to see how fairy female ejaculate can cure all ills, with lots of crazy bug sex, tree sex, strap-on sex and BDSM.

the GETV RoboGames wrapup

June 28, 2006 By: violet Category: Uncategorized Comments Off

robowrap.jpg

Six minutes of robot-smashing action, interspersed with my interviews with the bots’ creators and drivers — most especially cool, I interviewed one of the *only* women in the bot pits, and we talked about her fast and furious machine, Pipe Wench. Very fun! Also — keep in mind that I knew all along what a vicious robot destroyer Mr. Megabyte was when I interviewed him…

hooray for Seattle’s HUMP!

June 28, 2006 By: violet Category: Uncategorized Comments Off

hump-intro.jpgLast year my pals in Seattle at The Stranger came up with a great idea: an amateur indy porn film fest and competition, called HUMP! I was invited to go but couldn’t make it — which was probably good because it turned out to be a sold-out event. They’re now taking submissions for this year’s event, HUMP! 2 (8-minute shorts only), and I might try to make the trip to see the screenings (showing September 8-9). Read more about the event in my Fleshbot post HUMP! 2: Call for Indie Porn Submissions and on their HUMP! page. Also, Dan Savage wrote a nice post about my post, making the whole thing a tidy metarecursivebloggyhumpfest.

thomas roche is a beeeyyayayayayatch

June 26, 2006 By: violet Category: Uncategorized Comments Off

I think Thomas beat me at fight club this month. Today I edited five chapters line by line (because an editor *mangled* my manuscript and inserted crazy-wrong pronoun chaos and sex-negative judgements into the text) and just finished a 4K word chapter. And I lost a week, last week, obviously. But Thomas. He’s a beeeyyayayayayatch. He wrote me, “You know that book I was freaking out about a week ago Friday? I finished it last Friday. Seems on Saturday morning I decided I hated all of the 13,000 words I had written (especially “a” “and” and “the”) and I threw it all away. Wrote the 75,000 word manuscript from scratch in six and a half days. Just finished revising it & printing it out. Why do I do this again?”

I get extra fight club points for writing nonfiction, don’t I? Mufucka!

I’m so over the sex act I’m writing about right now I want to change the name of it to “fluffy bunny” throughout the entire text just to keep the insanity at bay… Think The Ultimate Guide to Anally Excitable Fluffy Bunnies Pinching Tiny Little Loaves by Violet Blue, and that’s where I’m at right now.

developing Indian obscenity case

June 26, 2006 By: violet Category: Uncategorized Comments Off

I’m fascinated with the way obscenity is monitored in other cultures, most especially countries like India, with their huge entertainment industry and (our) outsourced workforce. I’ve often spent fruitless hours trying to find Indian porn for Fleshbot, or Indian women for the times I’ve done Best of Babelogs posts. I seldom find anything credible, free or respectful… It’s just hard to find. I wonder why? So I’ve been watching the “wardrobe malfunction” hoo-hah that’s been brewing since “Bollyqueen” and model Carol Gracias lost her top during India Lakme Fashion Week last April. Now it seems that there will be a court and police investigation into the matter, with possible charges being filed. It wasn’t just Gracias who had some skin on display, but also model/actress Gauhar Khan. So for fun, I trolled and came up with the sexy pic at right and two videos of the wardrobe malfunctions, after the jump. Like the superbowl nip slip (and the insane new FCC fines imposed for “indecency” — tenfold — where *does* that money go?), it’s hard to believe this is all such a big deal.

the theme is glitter

June 25, 2006 By: violet Category: Uncategorized Comments Off

My world folded in on itself for a bit; thanks for staying with me. Miss Jessi has thrown down the gauntlet: last year we won a kissing contest at Pride and she called me an hour ago, “What are you doing and what are you wearing?” Me: “I’m in my pajamas staring out the window watching homosexuals walk by my house.” She replied, “This now the Iron Chef of sluttiness and femminess: put down your pool boy and get your false eyelashes on. The theme is glitter. We’re going to terrorize the gay bars.”

Sweet: back to normal! I’ll post pics later if I can still drive a mouse.

Update: whole recap is here — it’s mostly a Castro bar review, so I felt it fit better on Metblogs. My whole Pride 2006 album is here.

to the funeral now

June 23, 2006 By: violet Category: Uncategorized Comments Off

Sunday update: It has been so strange in so many ways. I think the most odd feeling was to meet people she loved and who loved her who I did not know at all, and have them say, “She talked about you a lot.” It was also strange to have a number of people find out about Jesse because they read my blog; I never put her name in the post, just her picture, but started getting emails from people I didn’t know and a few long-lost friends who read this blog, to connect, and to find out where the funeral was. I also had to break the news to several people throughout the week; grown men crying on the phone will never be easy to navigate. I also didn’t realize I hadn’t eaten a meal since monday; the cute skater boy and I caught up after ten years of not being in each others’ lives, and he brought me food, and made me eat, many times. Time and life shook hands and said goodbye; no one at the funeral really talked about what actually happened to Jesse. After the funeral, I found an anonymous blog post in which she had poured her heart out to someone she barely knew. If you want to know more about what happened to Jesse, here’s the post.

SRL tour on Make

June 22, 2006 By: violet Category: Uncategorized Comments Off

srl1.jpg

At Vloggercon 06 I met Bre Pettis, and over Vcon party drinks I suggested a tour of SRL while he was in town. He asked if he could film it for Make, and we never allow that — but Mark trusted me, and we did the first-ever video tour of SRL. Read the whole post on Make, and watch the video.

(I was a little nervous on camera.)

Bjork party crash

June 22, 2006 By: violet Category: Uncategorized Comments Off

Crashed Bjork’s super sekrit DJ night at The Stud (sound alert) tonight with some friends. I’d just planned on seeing friends and some low-key, much-needed go-go dancing — a very cool and surprising night. More pics (and maybe video) to come.

Update: Haha, my camera’s video function needs a built-in breathalyzer. But I got a ton of photos that I just uploaded to this album. We started at a private party for Supervisor Aaron Peskin’s aide (I danced on/with then talked to writers from the Examiner and Sentinel who were all like, how did *you* get in?). Next we toddled off to The Stud to bug Bjork and play/dance, then to Butter to play for ten excited patrons (where I danced on the same table I’ve danced on there for 4 years), then to The Eagle for more playing and dancing. My head hurts bad. Ow. So much fun. I’m not dating anyone in the band anymore, but they still seem to love me and want me around enough to sneak me in places and give me their drink tickets. I am happy. But still ow.

* Just spotted Bjork with the Marching Band in this photo.

light reading

June 21, 2006 By: violet Category: Uncategorized Comments Off

Here’s a great quote from my pal Mark’s column today:

“But through it all, there seems to exist this one general rule: If you have that much to hide, if you are living some sort of secret and embarrassing and family-endangering double life, if you are constantly burying images and hiding data or altering your persona to the point of endangering your work, if you cannot let someone, say, cruise through your personal sex-toy box without massive blushing and fainting and humiliation, perhaps you’re living the wrong kind of life. You think?”

Read Behold, All My Dirty Secrets (popup warning). Then read my guide to safe porn surfing! (Thanks, Sean.)

MAKE me

June 20, 2006 By: violet Category: Uncategorized Comments Off

I found myself wandering into Radio Smack today looking for something to do with my hands. No one got lucky, but I did decide to combine my need for making something with my urge for depression-fueled retail therapy. Strangely, lipgloss, fetish shoes and new panties just would not do. And no one is around to wrestle me to get my new copy of Make Magazine Vol. 06 out of my panties. I wanted a project and new tools. So I decided to follow along with this instructable that caught my eye (seen on that blog everyone links to all the time), and destroy a Griffin iTrip right out of the box. Very satisfying, especially since I decided to forgo the rusty dull razorblades lying about my house as a result of accidental theft from SRL, and got myself a really nice X-acto kit. This project should only really be done with a kit like this.

Progress photoblogged after the jump. It was a very successful operation.

femmebot dreams, human abilities

June 20, 2006 By: violet Category: Uncategorized Comments Off

Also — Xeni is back (YAY) and Boing Boing is fast and furious right now. Yesterday she posted about an article that’s not to be missed: the post is Yay, robot sex! Ahem. Ethics of machinophilia considered. Here it seems that the article’s author is considering the ethics of robot (and by proxy, machine) sex. But what’s really funny about the article are all the unintentional points the author has us (okay, me) considering… I mean, as humans we’re certainly hard-wired to enjoy sex and programmed to share it. But read the article — and talk about manufacturing consent!

I really, deeply agree with the human-orgasm-as-priority that’s inferred in the article, though I think this is unintentional too. And this line, oh, *especially* in regard to sex, snip:

“The greatest danger, however, is likely to lie with robots that are able to learn from their ‘experiences’. As systems develop, robots are likely to have much more sophisticated self-learning mechanisms built into them and it may become impossible to predict exactly how they will behave.”

YAAAAAYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unpredictable smart sex. OMG, I wish I was in the future RIGHT NOW.

that incredible GETV segment

In case you missed it, Eddie posted the segment I told you about a couple posts back, where I interviewed the man making prototypes of an exoskeleton to aid motion and mobility for people with spinal cord injuries. Read the Boing Boing RoboGames wrapup post here; visit the GETV post here.

me update

June 20, 2006 By: violet Category: Uncategorized Comments Off

Doing okay, but in a daze. I keep finding myself just staring at stuff. I’m now at the point where I need to do things, like things with my hands, but can’t concentrate yet to write, nor do I feel like I’d be safe to work at SRL. It’s okay; I have my machine assignment and everyone knows I’ll be in the shop with a vengeance next week.

Seeing friends last night was necessary; shots were bought, a few tears were spilled, asses were grabbed. All good.

And this blog needs more sex. Don’t you think?

getv

Friend Scott Beale took terrific action photos yesterday, as always — including this favorite (above) and this moment of Eddie and I showing our vloggy feelings for old media. I’ll do the rest of my video updates to this post at Metblogs and visit my album for final photo updates later tonight. Lots of you wrote me about the soccerbot video — and if you liked that you’ll *love* this awesome video shot by Bre Pettis over at Make (great music, too).

incredible GETV interview forthcoming

June 18, 2006 By: violet Category: Uncategorized Comments Off

169140141_e821123861.jpg

We interviewed theyshallwalk.org for GETV today; an incredible segment where I talked to Monty Reed who was paralyzed in a parachute accident and created an exoskeleton to walk and lift things with. He wants to develop them for paras, quads and SCI people, simply incredible stuff. I shot a video super-quick with the GETV microphone in my other hand — I’d asked him to demo the exoskeleton mid-GETV interview for me, and he’s being filmed by more than our cameras at this point… short video after the jump.

Image: I was at the Lexan when this happened! It was hot to the touch after impact. Image by Eddie — check out his great Flickr RoboGames tag.

I just did a hyooge RoboGames coverage post at Metblogs — with more videos, more photos and links to photo streams. (Look at me and Simone, yay!) Last night around midnight I snuck in the Boom Boom Room with a bunch of Marching Band friends and danced, danced, danced on chairs, around the mosh pit… Back to bots for me in a bit!

* Health SciTech article: Women’s Brains React Surprisingly Fast to Erotic Images. Snip:

“Previous research indicated men are more aroused by erotic images than women, so Anokhin and his colleagues expected women to respond with lower levels of brain activity compared to men.

“‘But that was not the case,’ Anokhin said. ‘Women have responses as strong as those seen in men.’”

* Farkiness to hilariousness: If College-Themed Porn Were Real. Snip:

Situation One: The Naughty Student
Cindi, an attractive student with a large rack, walks up to the desk of her professor.

Porn:
Cindi: Is there anything I can do to raise this grade?
Professor: Some students do extra credit work.
Cindi: (has sex with him)

Reality:
Cindi: Is there anything I can do to raise this grade?
Professor: Some students do extra credit work.
Cindi: Like what?
Professor: A seven- to ten-page report about the economic principles behind trade rules in a Micronesian country of your choosing.
Cindi: Oh. That makes sense and is an appropriate extra credit assignment for the course.

* Traveling this month? Bookmark the Google Map strip club mashup. Here’s California — the closer you get to a city, the more you see — still, the SF map is missing our gay strip clubs, the Lusty Lady and O’Farrell/Mitchell Brothers.
