I won! I won! The Independent Publisher Book Awards 2006 finalists were just announced via email, and Best Women’s Erotica 2006 won the Erotica award!!! Not a runner-up! So actually, *we* won — me and all the incredibly gifted authors I worked with on the book. So now, according to my desktop stickie, “Awards are like hemorrhoids, eventually every asshole gets one”, I’m an asshole! Yay! I’m going to pee my pants. OMG I’M GOING TO PEE MY PANTS!
Update: emails are coming in from all over congratulating me on being such an asshole, and Cleis Press is overjoyed. As some of you might remember, they asked me to edit this prestigious series and I was awed, and nervous and excited — and then they asked me to edit two more years. I guess they’re feeling pretty good about their instincts right now! But I think of all the email I’m getting, Tony Comstock sums it up best: “All my best friends are assholes. Congrats!”
