Anal sex is one of the few sex acts that combine the forbidden with the biggest erotic charge. It’s practiced by many people, yet it’s still considered a nasty practice — and it’s getting more popular by the minute. More people — women and men — are interested in trying out anal penetration than ever, and the availability of anal scenes in porn attests to this fact.
But the anal scenes in porn are deceptive in two ways. Firstly, you can’t ever seem to tell if the actors are really enjoying anal sex, which can be especially confusing for the anal-curious: you sit there wondering, does it feel good, or not? And secondly, the anal sex scenes in porn never — okay seldom — show realistic anal sex. They never show the foreplay, patience, starting small and working your way up, or copious amounts of lube that it takes for the starlets to get ready. You just see the dick going right in, right away! Yeah, right! They don’t show the starlet inserting anal lube suppositories or anyone shaving their buttholes (because in porn, they’re all genetic mutations born without butt hair). Suddenly, the dick is in, and POW! Which is all fine for wanking’s sake, but what about folks who want to see the real deal?
Well, your first stop is anal sex instructional videos. The videos that Good Vibes and Babeland sell all have excellent how-tos, are typically screened for accurate sex information, and they contain explicit sex. Teachers practice what they preach, right there in full color. In The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Women video, Tristan Taormino takes her best-selling instructional book and explicitly renders the lessons in a wall-to-wall anal extravaganza. She gathers the hottest anally inclined porn stars and holds mini classes with them, and then we get to see them experiment. At the end, pretty Tristan is on the receiving end of her many lessons as the female porn stars line up and take turns bringing Tristan to anal orgasm over and over. And it’s a two-tape set.
In the same vein of sex-filled instructional videos are the Bend Over Boyfriend tapes, 1 and 2. These tapes are the first (and still the only) of their kind in several ways. Bend Over #1 broke new ground as the first how-to tape to focus on male anal penetration from a female partner, responding to the unbelievable popularity of the practice. In it, two curious couples rent a video of Dr. Carol Queen showing explicitly how to strap it on and give it to a man, and while watching the film the couples get so worked up they try it themselves. In the sequel, we get much less instruction — just wall-to-wall action — and the clincher in #2 is that all the couples (except the last scene with anal queen Chloe) are real-life lovers. Their heat is tangible, there’s lots of role-play, and there’s not a dry pussy in the house — though there’s not as many male orgasms.

Great straight anal scenes can be found in virtually any John Leslie film, whose films are hotter than hell wall-to-walls. Hetero porn films sometimes include surprise male anal penetration scenes in them, and when they do, the scenes sizzle. Het porn sure has a lot of catching up to do with male anal penetration, if sales are any indication of demand. We want more!
